Outreach
LATEST:
As part of Hydrocracker’s ongoing training programme with the community casts
who work with the company Hydrocracker is running a training workshop for the
community casts from Brighton and London who worked on the recent production of
The New World Order. It will be held at The Barbican Theatre free of charge this
Saturday 28th January. There will be a morning of Physical training based on the
work of Polish Theatre Company Gardzienice led by company director
Jem Wall and
in the afternoon there will be a Vocal Training session from Judith Phillips –
the Head of Voice at LAMDA.
Hydrocracker offers high quality educational and outreach
interventions.
Intrinsic to our interest in reaching new audiences with exciting work is involving
young people and the wider community in our processes and products.
In our productions:
- The New World Order: Has involved students
and local people from Hackney, from
Brighton ACT, Brighton City College and Northbrook College as soldiers / stewards
/ civil servants with intrinsic speaking roles in the production.
- The Erpingham Camp: Members of the Buxbaum Musical Theatre
Group based in Brighton did brilliant work as our Red Coats: singing, dancing and
entertaining the happy campers.
- Shakespeare a la Carte: Involved the waiters and manager
at Pizza Express in Brighton interacting with the audience and speaking Shakespeare.
- How Are You Feeling?: Students from Northbrook College
in Sussex played medics and patients in our development workshops and showing at
Brighton General Hospital.
Company Directors Geoff Church,
Richard Hahlo and Jem Wall all met professionally
through the National Theatre Education Department. They have wide experience in
designing and running Educational projects both in the UK and abroad.
