Sphinx
By Neil Fleming
What choice did they have?
Sphinx is a bold re-working of the Oedipus myth that takes a fresh look at political power, enforcement through violence, and at sexual control.
Sphinx is the Pulp Fiction of the ancient world, a dark, disturbing and bitterly funny take on the game show of life. What the hell is destiny anyway? And who cares? Kings can have anything and anyone they please.
The play was first performed as a reading at the Old Vic rehearsal rooms on September 26 2002, directed by Geoff Church, and performed by Jan Blake, Chris Ettridge, Miranda Foster, Richard Wills-Cotton, David Sterne and Jake Wood.
Hydrocracker plans a future production.
